This season, Mark Erickson's The Nutcracker takes its place beneath the gilded ceilings of the United Theater on Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles.
When the theatre first opened on January 30, 1931, it did so for the world premiere of Charlie Chaplin's City Lights — a night so anticipated that Chaplin helped finance its construction to see it completed in time, with Albert Einstein among the guests. Nearly a century later, its French Baroque splendor still astonishes: a lobby of mirrors and marble modeled after the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles, cascading crystal, and history in every corner.
It is here that Clara's journey unfolds anew. As the first notes of Tchaikovsky rise and the snow begins to fall, past and present meet in a single luminous evening — world-class dancing, timeless storytelling, and a palace worthy of the tale.

Double Tour Productions was born from a shared conviction: that the arts deserve both a devoted guardian and a bold champion. Named for one of ballet's most exacting feats — the double tour, a moment of suspension, control, and pure daring — the company embodies exactly that spirit, where technical mastery serves fearless, deeply human storytelling.
Mr. Mark Erickson
Mark Erickson has moved fluidly between stage and screen for decades — from lead roles in Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, and The Nutcracker, and a finalist's standing at the International Ballet Competition, to appearances alongside Mel Gibson, Rod Steiger, and the cast of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
After completing an 8-year run in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, in both Los Angeles and San Francisco productions, Mr. Erickson turned his focus to producing and directing. Mark was producer of the award-winning feature length documentary film, “The Making of a Nutcracker”.
Mrs. Beverly Stephenson
Beverly Stephenson has been a cornerstone of the Temecula arts community since 1980, excelling for three decades as a choreographer, director, costumer, and producer. In 1994 she founded the Fine Arts Network Theater Company, which she has since guided through more than 120 productions. A founding member and current president of the Temecula Theater Foundation — which raised one million dollars to help build the local theater — she has also served on boards including Shakespeare-in-the-Vines, the San Diego Ballet Company, the Temecula Valley Playhouse, and the Arts Council of Temecula.
Her directing credits range from A Chorus Line and West Side Story to The Lion King Jr. and Nutcracker: The Mousical, and her choreography and costuming span productions from Matilda and The SpongeBob Musical to Shrek and The Phantom of the Opera.
She is also an accomplished author and lyricist, writing children's literature such as Clara and the Nutcracker and librettos for musicals including Anne with an E.
Silver Ma
Silver is an entrepreneur, producer, and international education consultant with more than 25 years of experience building businesses, leading cross-cultural partnerships, and developing opportunities between the United States and Asia.
As a Producer with Double Tour Productions, Silver is responsible for developing international partnerships and recruiting advanced ballet dancers from overseas to participate in U.S. productions and training programs. She works closely with dance studios, educators, and families to create meaningful cultural exchange opportunities, helping young artists gain professional stage experience while building connections across countries.
In addition to her work in the performing arts, Silver leads international student and educational programs, assisting families with school placement, guardianship, homestay management, and student development in the United States.
Originally from Shanghai and now based in Temecula, California, Silver combines her entrepreneurial background, international perspective, and passion for education to create opportunities that inspire the next generation of artists and cultural leaders.
